Kathryn K. Myers
Artist Statement
While oil painting is currently my primary medium, my curiosity and interest in science and nature has led me to explorations in metal, 3-d modeling, mosaic, pen and ink, gemstones, wood, and found objects. Growing up in South Jersey inspired me with summers at the shore, rides through the pines, trips to the city, and time spent with family, friends and pets. I make art to explore….my feelings, what it means to be human being, and the world around me. I am interested in inner and outer worlds, and in the spiritual aspects of living. I also like to explore materials…what are their properties, what can they do and what can I do with them? My educational background is in both art and anthropology, with a BFA (honors) in Fine Arts from Moore College of Art & Design and a BS in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Virginia. I currently reside in Mount Laurel with my musician husband and our two entertaining kitties, Bernadette and Franklin. To see a sample of my work, please visit: kathrynkmyers.com
